Filtering the results of a trace capture in the Analysis window

You can filter the results of a trace capture to refine your area of interest within the display using the options in the Analysis window Filter menu. You can filter the data by:

• an element number, using the Filter on Position Match option.

• a timestamp value in the Time/Cycl column, using the Filter on Time Match option. This also affects values in the Exec% column in the Profile tab.

• an address within the Address column, using one of:

• Filter on Raw Address Match

• Filter on Address Expression Match .

• a data value that is read from, or written to, memory, in either of the Data columns (decimal or hexadecimal), using the Filter on Data Value Match option.

• by symbol-name string (such as a function name or variable) or range of symbol-name strings, as contained in the Symbolic column. Use the Filter on Symbol Name Match option

• access type, as contained in the Type column, using the Filter on Access Type Match option.

• percentage of execution time, as displayed in the Exec% column, using the Filter on Percent Time Match option. 

You can change the way in which the filters are used together using the AND Filters (vs. OR) option. Select () this option to set an AND condition, or deselect it for an OR condition. The default is OR.

To clear any filters that you have set up, select Clear Filtering from the Analysis window Filter menu.

Heavy use of filtering operations can affect performance.
