DebuggerIf your target permits the use of hardware breakpoints, you can set a breakpoint (HW Access) that is triggered according to the value of specified data, sometimes referred to as a watchpoint. The variable that you specify must be located in memory. It is monitored during execution, and when it reaches the specified value, execution stops.
To set a HW Access breakpoint on a specific data value, use the Set Address/Data Breakpoint dialog, Select HW access as the Breakpoint Type, and specify the Location and Value Match.
You can access the dialog in any of the following ways:
Select Breakpoints
Set/Edit Breakpoint...
from the Code window Debug
menu.
Select Break at… from the context menu that appears when you select the variable in the Watch pane, to set a break on the variable address. You can then use the Edit Breakpoint option from the context menu for that breakpoint in the Break/Tracepoints pane.
Select Set Break… from the context menu that appears when a variable is selected in the Src tab of the File Editor pane.
Select Data Navigator from the View menu. Click the Variables tab and locate the variable. Right click and select Break… from the Context menu.
If you simply want to monitor the value of a variable as you step through your program, or at various breakpoints, you can set it up as a watch in the Code window Watch pane.
