Projects

RealView Debugger provides the facility for you to organize your work into projects.

It is not necessary for you to set up a project for debugging your program, and you can ignore all the Project options in RealView Debugger. However, it can be a useful aid to development. Setting up a project enables RealView Debugger to save your list of files, to understand your build model, and to maintain a record of your project level preferences.

You can specify any of the following build configurations for building your project files:

Debug              By default, builds output binaries that are fully debuggable, at the expense of optimization. This configuration provides the best debug view while you are developing your program.

Release           By default, builds output binaries that are fully optimized, at the expense of debug information. This configuration outputs optimized code suitable for release.

DebugRel         By default, builds output binaries that provide adequate optimization, and give an adequate debug view. Use this configuration if you are intending to reduce testing by releasing the same code that you build for debug.

A project also enables RealView Debugger to save (and load automatically) specified debugging states, for example, breakpoints. For more information see Set up a Project.

If you do not set up a project, RealView Debugger creates an Auto-project for its own use, when you load an image to your selected target. The settings for this auto-project are read directly from the image. Use the Project and Tools menu options of the Code window to create projects and build your programs.
