How do I set memory access size?

Memory access is set to the default for the processor in RealView Debugger. For ARM processors, this is byte-size. You can change the Access_size setting in the Connection Properties window to define a different access size. You must also define the block of memory to which it applies. The following example shows you how to set up a small memory block, designated as RAM with word-size access:

1.   Select Connection Properties from the Code window Target menu to display the Connection Properties window.

2.   Expand the CONNECTION group (or BOARD group if you are using a specific.bcd definition) for your target. This example uses a custom RealView ICE connection:

3.   Expand Advanced_Information until it looks like this:

4. Right-click on Default under Memory_block and select Make Copy…to set up a custom memory block

5. Enter the name of the memory block when you are prompted, for example, Access_new.

6. Click Create on the Prompt dialog to create the new group of settings:

7. Click on Access_new to see its settings in the right pane:

8. Set Start to 0x0 and Length to 0x1000

9. Click on Attributes to display settings including Access_size in the right pane:

Access_size is set to 0, that is, memory access size is at the default for the processor (byte-size for ARM processors).

10. Right-click on Access_size and select 4 to set the Access size to 4 bytes.
