Specifying an unconditional trace range

For ETM-based targets, you can specify a range of instructions to trace. Information is only collected in that range, calls to functions outside the range are recorded as a pause and information is not collected until processing returns to the specified range.

You can specify a trace range using the Trace Range option from the Code window File Editor pane:

  1. Highlight the range of instructions in the Dsm or Src tab of the File Editor pane.

  2. Right-click in the left margin to display the context menu.

  3. Select Set Trace Range.
The range is indicated using and in the left margin.

Alternatively:

  1. Right-click in the left margin to display the context menu.

  2. Select  Set/Toggle Tracepoint...

  3. Select one of the options:

Start of Trace Range (Instr only)

Start of Trace Range (Instr + Data)

Start of Excluded Trace Range (Instr + Data)

Start of Excluded Trace Range (Data only)

indicates the start of the range.

  4. Right-click in the left margin to display the context menu.

  5. Select  Set/Toggle Tracepoint...

  6. Select the appropriate End of Trace Range option
indicates the end of the range.
