This option determines whether the ETM operates in cycle-accurate mode. When this option is selected, the ETM records the number of cycles executed while tracing is enabled. The Elem column of the Analysis window shows the cycle number of the cycle in which each instruction was executed. The count does not include cycles executed during a trace discontinuity. You must use the Time/unit column, which displays timestamp values, to measure across discontinuities in the trace output.

   If you want to view profiling information, you should enable either timestamping or cycle accurate tracing, or both. Better results in profiling are generally obtained with timestamping enabled.

Timestamp values are displayed only if timestamps are enabled (see the option Enable Timestamping in this section).

When this option is not selected, the ETM does not record cycle counts. The Elem column in the Analysis window shows a row number relative to the trigger point, if one has been set.

  Cycle-accurate tracing fills up the capture buffer faster than non cycle-accurate tracing because all wait cycles are captured.
